Team BRK had a great showing this weekend. It was hot with not much wind in the morning and some in the afternoon. Duke, Doc and Ruby all moved onto day two. Duke and Ruby moved to round 3 by mid morning. After the elimination rounds, Duke moved into the championships for the 1 hour run off. Jeff and Duke finished the day with Runner-Up Champion. What a great couple days!
Duke places 4th out of 32 dogs today. 4/4 and a back.
We made one final push down south for quail and got into them pretty good. Had some great dog work and enjoyed time with friends. Have a great spot to start with next year. Here is a cool picture from our trip.
Lots of hunting today.... no birds. Decided to start Brooke's water training. She did great! Really loves water
Our first trip out at Tonto Basin this year was great. Duke found us a big covey of quail and pointed like a champ. A well trained/broke bird dog makes quail hunting very successful!
We braved the cold and periods of snow to have an excellent half day of training. We had over 25 birds that made for some excitement all the way around. With 9 dogs we had our hands full but it paid off. We worked each dog on pointing, retrieving and backing. Ruby seen many, many quail as well as Megan, Doc, Duke and Bella all showed their strengths. Katie and Rio are advancing even further in their training. Even JoJo and Brooke got to play with some quail and pigeons. Both pups got a bird shot over them and loved it. |
